Paul Soulek Organ Concert at First
Dear Music Lover,
First Lutheran Church and School of 1207 North Broadway, Knoxville, Tennessee invites all music lovers, including the American Guild of Organists, to enjoy two Christian music events at our church on Sunday, May 5. At 9:30 AM, Paul Soulek will accompany our morning worship service. And, at 3 PM, he will be presenting a hymn festival session involving hymn singing, choir anthems, instrumental presentations, improvisations and other procedures. The concert will be followed by a meet-and-greet with the artist. All events are free of charge.
Paul Soulek is an unbelievably talented musician who lives in Seward, Nebraska where he serves as cantor and principal organist at St. John’s Lutheran Church, a congregation of over 1,000 members. He is as an adjunct professor of organ and church music at Concordia University, Nebraska. Paul graduated from Concordia University, Nebraska with a Bachelors of Church Music degree in 2007 and received a Masters in Church Music from Concordia University, Chicago in 2015. His greatest joy is found in the exceptionally ordinary singing of weekly worship, sounds of which can be found at SingBoldly.org. Other original compositions, including Festive Intonations, are published by Concordia Publishing House, cph.org.
The organ at First Lutheran is a Beckerath, built in Hamburg, Germany and installed in 1972. The instrument has two manuals, tracker action, swell under expression and 24 ranks, making it a stand-out instrument in the region.
First Lutheran Church and School has been a part of the Knoxville community since 1869. The members of the congregation along with our students, one year to 8th grade, look forward to the opportunity to join with our community and fellow music lovers experiencing the joy that music brings to the worship service, as well and the fellowship it provides.
We hope you will join us for these great musical events on May 5, 2024.
